Key Verse – Matthew 1:24 “When Joseph woke up, he did as the Lord’s angel had commanded him. He married her”

Let’s revisit the character of Joseph again. As we learned last week, there are very few references to him in the Bible and they mostly involve him being visited by an angel. The faithful obedience of this man, who would be Jesus’ earthly father, is amazing! On more than one occasion, an angel visits Joseph in a dream, delivers some instructions and then Joseph just obeys. There is no record of him questioning the instructions he received or even discussing them with his wife. He just obeyed. 

Think and journal about:

• Do you consider yourself generally an obedient person? What about when it comes to God given instructions or leadings?  
• If not, why do you think that is? 
• Why do you think obedience was such an important trait for Jesus’ earthly father?
