Key Verse -Luke 2: 17-18 “After seeing them, they reported the message they were told about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.”
Sharing good news with others is a natural response for most of us. These shepherds were no exception. They had just had an amazing one of a kind experience. One that included angels sharing the news that “a Savior had been born”! It’s important to keep in mind that the people of Israel had been waiting for the promised Messiah for a very long time. How could these men not share the news with everyone they saw?! No one, not even the angel making the birth announcement told these men to share the news, yet they naturally shared the good news?
Think and journal about:
- Who is your go to person for sharing news? Most of us have a handful of people that we run to first to share both good and bad news alike. Who are those people in your life?
- Do those people know this most amazing news about Jesus? If not, why not reach out today and tell them?
- What prevents you from sharing the news of Jesus with everyone you meet? What about those you live with, work with, coach with, etc.? What if all of us told at least one person about Jesus between now and Christmas? That would be amazing!
Deep dive scripture: Isaiah 9:1-7, Micah 5:2-4
My beautiful bride of forty two years is my “go to” person for sharing news and for everything else as well. I am so very grateful to God for her. Does she know the Good News? She did before I did! Why don’t we share the Gospel more with everyone. I think it’s “fear” of the reaction the Gospel will provoke. After all, Herod slaughtered innocent children when he heard the Gospel. And yet the first thing the Heavenly Angels said was, “Fear NOT!” We should listen more to our Better Angels, huh?
