Key Verse – Luke 2:8 “ In the same region, shepherds were staying out in the fields and keeping watch at night over their flock.”
Just normal everyday people, in some cases “the least of these”, are time and time again the people God chooses to use and make himself known to. The shepherds were some of these “lesser people”. By all standards, shepherds of the day were considered basically irrelevant. They were dirty, probably smelly and they spent all their days and nights with sheep instead of people. Yet they were the ones that God chose as the first to know about the birth of His Son. 2022 birth announcements have nothing on this one- Angels, bright lights, and signing!! Can you even imagine?!
Think and journal about:
- Are you a normal everyday person? Would some perhaps even consider you as irrelevant? Do you understand that if you are earnestly seeking God, then you are just the type of person He’s gonna use? How does that make you feel? What questions does it bring about?
- Are you afraid, like the shepherds because of some news you’ve received or are expecting? Take those fears to God, allowing Him and Him alone to cover your fears with His grace and love.
