Anticipated Arrival -11

Key Verse – Luke 2:4-5 “Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David.  He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.”

There is so much anticipation, good and bad, when it comes to travel. From planning and preparation to the travel and ultimately the destination. However, the trip that Mary and Joseph had to take when she was 9 months pregnant had to have been filled with a completely different level of anticipation. Mary had to have been physically miserable, worried about so many things; what if the baby came during the trip, where would they stay, what did it mean to be a mom, let alone how was she supposed to raise God’s son. These are big questions with no immediate answers.

Think and journal about:

  • Think about the last trip you planned. Where did you go? What part of the trip did you anticipate the most and why?
  • Did the trip go as planned? If not, what happened? How did you handle the unexpected?
  • Think about your unexpected journey with God. Where have the detours come and how have you handled them?
