There has never been a day when God was unfaithful.
There has never been a day when God was not Sovereign, not even one minute.
There has never been a day when God was not watching, not working, not loving.
There has never been a day without God. He has always been and always will be.
God knew the day you’d be born, take your first steps, say your first word. He also knew the day you’d fall and skin your knees, fall off your bike and fail that test. There is nothing about you that God does not know and hasn’t always known. (Psalms 139, Matthew 10:30)
He knows every time you smile and every time you laugh. He also knows every tear you’ve shed, even the ones still to come, every hurt, every disappointment, every feeling of inadequacy you have ever felt.
There has never been a day that God didn’t know about you, love you and pursue you.
Even on your most unlovable days, He was there loving you. Even when you are pushing away and fighting for control-He still loves, still remains faithful. Even when you turn your back and willfully walk away- He still loves, still pursues.
For He is a jealous God. (Deuteronomy 4:24)
There is not one of his children he doesn’t love. There is none too far gone for God. God is always faithful. God is always present. God is always waiting with open arms. God is always willing. God is always loving. He cannot change who He Is-He is God!
Too often I forget who God is, how big God is. God, how many names He has: Father, LORD, Jesus, Savior, Creator. All these names at times, seem big and ominous, far away even. This God we speak about, sing about, teach about is BIG. Yet, He is intimately involved in every single aspect of our lives. He is all knowing, all seeing, ever present. He is always working-weaving lives together, creating circumstances and meetings – all in an effort to draw us in, teach us, grow us, and save us from ourselves.
God is a jealous God! He wants every piece and part of us. Not just on Sundays, but 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Taste and see that the LORD is indeed good! His faithful love endures forever. (Psalms 34:8, Psalms 118)
God knows and always has known everything! The good and the bad. He knew the day you’d graduate from high school and college. He also knew the day you’d drop out or decide to quit.
He has always known every job you’ll have, as well as those you hoped for, but didn’t get. The day you’d get your first job, as well as the day you lost that job. He also knows exactly how He is going to provide for you until the new job comes.
He knew the day you’d meet that friend, and the day that same friend would betray your trust. He knew the day you’d have your first crush, your first kiss and the day you’d fall in love and get married. He also knew the day your marriage would fall apart. He also knows about and desires to be a part of every single reconciliation.
He knew the day that sweet baby would enter this world and change your life forever. He knew the diagnosis before you or the doctors, the day you’d wreck the car, and the day you ace that test, hit the game winning homerun and finish that race!
He knows of every goal you’ve accomplished, every good and kind thing you have ever done as well as every hurtful and hateful word that has come out of our mouth. Our success and our failures have always been known by Him. All things work for the good and glory of God. If only we would let Him have His way in us!
God also knows the day we will stop running, stop fighting, stop manipulating and bow before Him. Admitting our deep need and surrendering our all into His more than able, more than capable hands. He knows the day we will finally say “Your will, not mine” and truly mean it.
Holy, holy, holy is the LORD God Almighty, who was and is and is to come.
That verse you just read, that sermon you just heard, the fact that you stopped to read this blog instead of scrolling on by, that thought or message that seems to keep coming up in different places all day long – not an accident or coincidence – but the hand of God pursuing you. This BIG God is the same one who leaves the 99 to find the one.
Stop running, there is no need to be embarrassed or ashamed. God is bigger than all those feelings of inadequacy, shame and guilt. Let him all the way in, bow before Him, and surrender your all to Him.
Sure, it’s scary, the unknown always is. But this God you are surrendering to – knows the unknown! He always has, who better to lead and guide you through?
God is waiting, right here, right now. No matter where you are or how far you may have strayed. No matter who you are: wayward child, church worker, school teacher, doctor, lawyer, student, worn out mom, anxious dad, unemployed or retired. He is here, He is there, He is God! Run to Him and allow Him to take care of you.
